Samaria Baptist Church

Merry Christmas on this Christmas Eve!

Our Children provided our program on Sunday, with a short sermon from Bro. Shane.

Diane and Jerry Greer sang “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.” Our children’s program displayed the “Christmas Story” with the arrival of Mary and Joseph as they tried to find refuge for the birth of our Savior.

They were turned away by the innkeepers who had no more vacancies. There was one, however, who offered the use of a stable. They took advantage of this because Mary’s time to deliver was near.

Our Savior was born in this stable, wrapped in swaddling clothes and placed in a manger. The angel came to the shepherds in the fields to tell them of the birth of a Savior who would save us all.

The Kings came to see the newborn King, and they all paid homage to the new baby who would become the Savior of the entire world.

We need a Savior and we must make a choice. Do we come to Christ or do we walk away sorrowfully. The shepherds left the stable rejoicing and praising the Lord Jesus Christ.

God’s word directs us to follow him. Trouble comes to us all and everyone has heard of the Savior, but do we take him at his word? It is so simple to accept Jesus that some people miss out due to the fact that they are attempting something difficult and complicated.

At this time of the year, when all eyes focus is on Bethlehem, what about you? Do you need a Savior? Do you belong to him, and will you serve him in the coming year?

May you all enjoy a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

Our prayer concerns today include a praise report for Dr. Walter Hudgins and prayer requests for Jay Patterson.

Our cast for the Christmas program was as follows. These children loved being a part of the “Christmas Story,” and they did a remarkable job. Mary (Lindsie Popwell), Joseph (Jacob Stoneback), Inn Keepers (Jacob Franklin), (Brady Popwell), and (Luke Stoneback). The angels were (Emily Parker) and (April Cleckler), the Kings were (Wesley Franklin), (Caleb Parker) and (Brady Popwell).

Our Shepherds were (Eli Stoneback), and (Braden Deavers), our ladies who produced this program were Cheralyn Stoneback, Stacey Wyatt and all the parents who brought the children to practice and supported them.

May the Holy Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ be the total reason you celebrate this season. God bless you all.

Floyd Baptist Church

Bro. Mike Lawerence’s message was from Luke 2 and dealt with God’s Christmas lists.

God wanted us to know what he was like when he sent his son to us.

Think of God making a Christmas list for us this time of year. He has some things he would like us to discover and re-discover. The first is life not only physically but spiritually (eternal) as well.

The second thing is peace, the message that the angel gave, while the third is hope.

We look at Washington D.C. and Montgomery and it does not seem like there is much hope in the world. The only hope we have is through God.

Everyone is welcome to come and worship with us at Floyd. We are located at 3439 County Road 59 in Verbena.
