Church news for the week of Dec. 17, 2015

Rocky Mount United Methodist Church
Jesus is the reason for the season and Rocky Mount is enjoying the season as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior! Last week, we joined together to enjoy a meal, gift exchange and one of the best entertainments we have ever experienced.
Thank you Claudean Louise of Clanton for giving us the gift of one of the best medicines for a soul, laughter!
We look forward to another special treat next Sunday morning, as our own Jan Pike will be joined by Paul Hilyer to present special music in four-handed piano playing and singing. We invite you all to join us in the sanctuary at 11 a.m. for this special presentation.
Sunday’s scripture came from an unusual book to be presented, especially in the Advent season, Zephaniah 3:14-20. While Zephaniah is not a “happy” book, and it does call people to task, we also know that God will be victorious.
God created all and he can transform if we repent, wait expectantly and prepare. Just as the Daffodils come when the seasons feel so bleak, God will be there with you all along. One day all things will change.
Our youth activities are taking a break and will resume on Jan. 13, 2016. Study for your exams, enjoy the season of Jesus and be ready to jump back with us in the new year!
