Mars Hill Baptist Church
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with parades, parties, pageants, presents, etc. This world may seem to have it all, but there is no Christmas without Christ!
Jesus is the reason, and not just for this season but for every season of every year. Without Christ, we truly have no reason for hope, to celebrate and to believe in a better tomorrow.
I am not afraid to say that Christ is my reason for this season and every second of life! Is Jesus your reason to celebrate life?
Bro. William Short’s message Sunday was taken from Luke 1:30-38. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a son, and shall call his name Jesus.
“He will be great and will be called the son of the highest, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.
Then Mary said to the angel, “how can this be, since I do not know a man?” The angel answered and said to her, “the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the highest will overshadow you. The holy one who is to be born will be called the son of God.
“Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.”
Then Mary said, “behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” The angel departed from her.
Jesus was born of a virgin, and there has been no virgin birth either before or after our lord and savior, Jesus Christ!
Nothing is impossible with God! You may think your present situation is beyond help or hope, but nothing is impossible with God! Whatever season you are living in, open your heart and soul to Jesus and believe on his name.
Be re-born of the spirit, because God says its not to late! Acknowledge your need of a savior and repent your sins to Jesus Christ. Start a new life with Christ as your center and as your reason for hope for a better tomorrow.
God will either take you out of whatever situation you are in, or give you the strength to come through it better than you were before! Amen.
Nothing is impossible with God, and its not too hard either! You may think it iss hard to be a Christian or that you are not good enough. You are partially right.
None of us are ever good enough, and we cannot earn our way into heaven. But with the grace and mercy that Jesus bestows on us we can be children of God and born into his holy family.
The only thing good in any of us is Jesus Christ. We are all born sinners, and unless we accept Jesus Christ as lord and savior, we will die in our sins and be cast into hell!
But it is not to late and it is not to hard because nothing is impossible with God! We only have to pray and ask God into our hearts and lives, repent of our sins, and become children of God.
Sometimes we try to make things harder than they really are. The impossible becomes possible with Jesus as our reason for every season.
The world beats us down everyday, and there are more mass shootings than ever. Schools are no longer safe for our children and even shopping for groceries is beginning to be unsafe.
Look up to Jesus and do not let this world and its troubles get you down. Jesus has promised a better tomorrow and a home in heaven with him where there will be no tears, heartache, sickness or disease. I am looking for that day, are you?
As Christians we stumble and fall short of what God would have us to be. If you listen to the world it is to hard, but if you listen to Jesus, he promises to make it possible.
Through his mercy and grace, we can get up and go on with our life. God’s way is the right way so listen to him, and all things are possible.
Our youth and their leaders visited the Ronald McDonald house in Birmingham to take supplies for the people there. We praise God for their heart of service for others. Our youth are the church leaders of tomorrow!
Our senior messengers as they go next week for Christmas at the falls in Gadsden. Pray that they return safely.
Our adult Christmas cantata will be held on Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. Our young children’s Christmas play will be on the same day at 6 p.m., and followed by our youth Christmas play.
Please continue to pray for our church, our pastor, the sick, the lost, the hurting, our children and schools, our military, our missionaries at home and abroad, our government and the peace of Israel. God is good all the time! Amen.
