Jemison Mayor Eddie Reed commended city staff and council members for a job well done in 2015.
“We have so many wonderful people who are willing to work to make our city the best it can be,” Reed said. “There are people here who are working to do the best for the citizens of Jemison.”
Reed spoke during the regularly scheduled Jemison City Council meeting, which will not meet again in 2015 due to the Christmas holiday.
Reed also thanked Jemison Librarian Tammie McGriff for working to organize the annual Jemison Christmas tree lighting on Nov. 24.
“It was a wonderful event and we have heard from so many people that they really enjoyed it,” Reed said. “We made history here by having a celebration in the spiritual way. We had a community communion ceremony and we had a very large crowd.”
The council unanimously voted to pay the bills and approved the council minutes from the previous meeting.
Councilman Donnie Lane was absent from Monday’s meeting.
Reed concluded the meeting by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
