Board of Education adds two members to Dual Enrollment Committee

The Chilton County Board of Education on Tuesday approved the addition of two members to the newly created Dual Enrollment Committee.
The committee oversees the county school system’s dual enrollment (high school and college) program.
The new members will be Linda Hand, who will be a board of education representative; and Amy Bellew, who will be a teacher representative from Isabella.
The new members join existing members Lori Patterson, BOE representative; Nichele Bulger-Johnson, central office representative; student representatives Lauren Wyatt of Thorsby and Mackenzie Roller of Verbena; parent representatives Angie McGee and Maurice Lyn; and teacher representatives Robin Gray of Jemison and Jaime Bee of Chilton County High School.
In other business, the board:
•Approved new employees and the transfer of employees, including: Amanda Atkins, PK teacher assistant/paraprofessional at Clanton Elementary, Sherry Minor, contract itinerant EL teacher at LeCroy Career Technical Center; Landon Lowery, horticulture teacher at LeCroy Career Technical Center; Yvonna Benson, maintenance secretary/bookkeeper; Magenn Green, elementary interventionist teacher at Verbena; and Taylor Hardee, sixth grader teacher at Verbena.
•Approved school and shop requests, including: approval for Jason Sosa at LeCroy Career Technical Center to attend training at Duke University from Jan. 1, 2016, until Jan. 12, 2016; approval for Shelby Griffin to work as a volunteer girls basketball and softball coach at Thorsby for the 2015-16 school year; and approval to increase Raymond Davidson’s number of buses being fueled to 39 buses, effective immediately.
•Approved leave requests, including: Sheila Rhodes, Isabella, Oct. 1 until Dec. 23; and Jeffrey Patterson, maintenance, Nov. 6 until Nov. 23.
•Approved the placement of four students in the PASS Academy for the remainder of the school year.
•Approved minutes from the Oct. 20 meeting.
