58A Church Street in Jemison has a new look and a new owner.
The sign out front says Giggle Stitch and Brown Eyed Girl Boutique.
But, with a name like Giggle Stitch, you have to wonder. Where did that come from? According to owner Marty Childress Mims, it evolved from a silly conversation she had with her husband, and “let’s just leave it at that.”
Regardless, the business that began in Mims’ home in 2013, outgrew the space and that is when she decided to join Renee Lewis, owner of Brown Eyed Girl Boutique, in sharing a space and offering products and services that complement each other.
Giggle Stitch and Brown Eyed Girl Boutique together offer ladies clothing sizes small to 3X, plenty of accessories, and stylish jewelry as well.
Within this shared space are decorative pillows, aprons, wooden signs, and other gifts galore.
Almost all of these items can be personalized by adding monograms and/or stitch work .
Mims credits Christy Higgins as being her “right-hand” woman especially in regard to the monogramming and stitch work.
These two ladies stitch and monogram while shoppers browse the clothing and gift items available. They also add school and team logos to sweatshirts and t-shirts as well as clothing items purchased elsewhere.
A very nice addition to the gift options is candles made “locally,” at the Fairhope Soy Candle Company.
The store officially opened its doors to customers on Nov. 10.
They have already been busy and are looking forward to serving the ladies of the community and helping them find just the right clothing and gifts.
