The Clanton Advertiser has published a special pink edition in October for several years now to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We think the Oct. 4 edition of the newspaper is extra special. This is the first year of the “Chilton County’s Men in Pink” effort, in which 17 local public figures have committed to wearing pink throughout October.

That’s only the beginning of their commitment. The Men in Pink will also be raising money for Chilton County Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. We encourage local residents to help in any way they can to this worthwhile effort.

As many of the Men in Pink say in their bios, which can be found here, cancer has affected all of us in some way. It’s a terrible disease, and we’re glad these local leaders are willing to lead the battle from the front lines.

We’re also glad that we can be part of this effort by presenting this special edition and recognizing the Men in Pink, in order to publicize their efforts.

Thanks to Chilton County Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society and the Men in Pink, new partnerships are being formed in the fight against cancer. That’s a good thing because it will take all of us working together to end this disease that is a nightmare to so many.
