Emogene Lowery Ray

Emogene “Jean” Lowery Ray, 88, of Prattville, passed away Oct. 4.
Funeral services will be held Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. at the East Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Graham officiating.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby.
Ray was born June 4, 1927, to the late Leonard Lowery and Emma Pate Lowery.
She was a person of strong faith and was active in church all of her life.
Since childhood she was a very talented pianist and for over 50 years had served as organist and pianist for the Thorsby Baptist Church, the First Baptist Church of Prattville and East Memorial Baptist Church.
She also served in secretarial positions for Thorsby Baptist Church and Prattville First Baptist Church.
She worked at the Prattville YMCA for many years and was retired from the Citizen’s Bank after many years of service.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Past Worthy Matron.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, B.V. Ray; a son, Eric Ray and his wife Patsy of Talladega; a daughter, Ginger Ray of Curvin and her husband Joe of Birmingham; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other close family members and friends.
Visitation will be held Oct. 6 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel.
