Sheriff’s Office investigating thefts and burglaries

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of burglaries involving weapons.

Authorities believe the thefts occurred in the 4000 Block of County Road 37 in the Liberty Hill community, according to a Facebook post from the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office.

“We are just asking for people’s help,” Sheriff John Shearon said. “If people in that community see someone walking around that looks like they may be up to no good, just call us. We also are trying to let people know in case they might try to buy some of these items. People might buy these unaware that they are stolen, and we are hoping to get the word out.”

The burglaries occurred between Aug. 29 and Sept. 18, Shearon said.

The Sheriff’s Office believes that at least one male is involved and may be committing these crimes on foot.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking for any information about the identity of the individual or the location of the following items that have been reported stolen which include a Marlin .22 caliber rifle, a Marlin .22 magnum caliber rifle, a CZ .223 caliber rifle, a Remington 700 classic 7mm-08 caliber rifle, a Ruger 6mm caliber rifle, a Ruger 300 win magnum caliber rifle, two Marlin 30-30 caliber rifles, two Remington 870 12-gauge shotguns, two Remington 1100 12-gauge shotguns, a Remington SP10 10 gauge shotgun, a Hawkin .50 caliber muzzleloader, a Ruger Security 6 .357 magnum caliber handgun, a Ruger SP101 .38 caliber handgun, Ruger SR40 .40 caliber handgun, Winchester 12 gauge single shot shotgun, Sanyo flat-screen television, Samsung flat-screen television, two Stihl brand chainsaws, one Stihl brand weedeater and one Craftsman air compressor.
