Board of Education passes schools budget

The board also approved requests from the transportation supervisor, including:

•For Janice Martin to be compensated for fueling buses, effective as of Aug. 11.

•For the following drivers to be paid $30 a day for providing transportation from local high schools to Jefferson State Community College in Clanton: Shirley Byrd, Wayne Clements and Angie Anderson.

•For the following drivers to be paid $15 per day for the time between vocational routes: Mike Jones, Nikki Ellison, Janice Martin, June Wallace and Mike Ratliff, effective Aug. 12.

•For Mike Jones to be paid $15 per trip for two trips driving students from Isabella to LCTC and back to the school, effective Aug. 12. through Dec. 18.

•For Sandy Madsen to be paid $15 per day for the time between vocational routes, effective Aug. 24.

•For Nikki Ellison and June Wallace to be paid $15 per trip for two trips driving students from Jemison to LCTC and back to the school, effective Aug. 12 through Dec. 18.

•For Kelley Cummings to be paid $22.25 plus $15 per day for the time between vocational routes for Aug. 11 and for Patricia Freeland to be paid $22.25 plus $15 per day for the time between vocational routes for the days of Aug. 12-21.

•For Faye Cunningham to be paid $15 per trip for two trips driving students from CCHS to LCTC and back to the school, Kay Pate to be paid $15 per trip for three trips driving students from CCHS to LCTC and back to the school, and for Cindy Robinson to be paid $15 per trip for one trip driving students to LCTC, effective Aug. 12 to Dec. 18.

•To adopt the state of Alabama Department of Education bus usage cost per mile rate of $1.20 per mile.

•For the Chilton County Forestry Planning Committee to use two to four school buses on Oct. 12.

•To execute the ATBE Automobile Fund Participation renewal and payment of 2015-16 invoice.

•For a bus route to be added in Clanton and a bus driver position to be posted for the route, effective Aug. 11.

•For a bus route to be added in Jemison and a bus driver position to be posted for the route, effective Aug. 11.

•For a bus route to be added in Jemison and a bus driver position to be posted for the route, effective Aug. 13.

•For a special needs bus route to be added and a bus driver position to be posted for the route, effective Aug. 11.

 

The board also approved school and shop requests, including:

•At Isabella High School, approval of Courtney Smith as a certified substitute for the leave of Susie Mitchell, effective Aug. 5; and approval for the Isabella Youth League to use the high school campus and football stadium for after-school football, cheerleader practices and scheduled games, with fees waived.

•At Jemison Elementary School, approval of Judy Hale as a certified substitute for the leave of Lacy Rebecca Brown, effective Aug. 27.

•At Jemison High School, approval for Sandra Cullen and DECA members to attend the New York Experience in New York City from Dec. 9-13.

•At LeCroy Career Technical Center, permission to hire a driver and use of a bus to furnish transportation for health science students to and from Hatley Health Care, morning and afternoon, from October to May 2016; and approval of Brent Conway and Adam Watley as Public Service Academy/EMT basic instructors for adult evening classes, at a rate of $25 per hour.

•At Maplesville School, approval for Joe Dennis to sponsor a trip for Maplesville, Isabella, Jemison and Chilton County high school FFA chapters to attend the 88th National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky. from Oct. 27-29; and approval of Troy Harrison as a volunteer assistant coach.

•At Thorsby School, approval for Brian Lucas to sponsor a trip to the National FFA Convention; for the town of Thorsby’s Parks and Recreation Department to use the athletic facilities at the school with fees waived; for the town of Thorsby to use the grounds in front of the school for the town’s Swedish Festival Car Show on Oct. 10; and for the town of Thorsby to use the school auditorium for the Swedish Festival on Sept. 24, Sept. 29, Oct. 1, 5 and 6.
