You’ve heard it said that nothing is free, but members of the Women’s Ministry at Clanton First Baptist Church disagree.
And they’re throwing in dessert for good measure.
The Women’s Ministry is presenting a concert with gospel group Holy Destiny, free to anyone interested, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, located at 210 Sixth St. N. in Clanton.
“We’re just trying to get our group growing and reach out to others,” said Ginger Head with the Women’s Ministry, which includes about 20 members. “We just wanted to do something for the community.”
In addition to the singing, a dessert bar will open once the singing is over, featuring goodies from the kitchens of the Ministry members.
The doors will open at about 5:30 p.m., with the singing beginning at 6:30 p.m. and lasting about an hour.
Holy Destiny is made up of brothers Stacey and Stanley Adams of Chilton County, and Rob Manning of Prattville, along with Allen Dale of Clanton running the sound.
Stacey Adams is a member of First Baptist Church and sings in the choir.
“We’re going to be ministering in song,” Adams said about the performance. “We enjoy doing what we do. We love singing about Jesus because we know him as our personal savior.
“We hope people come out to worship and not just be entertained.”
Adams said Holy Destiny hasn’t performed at the church in about nine years, and is excited to be back.
“We love our home folks,” he said.
Holy Destiny albums will be available for purchase at the event.
Head said the Women’s Ministry approached Adams about the possibility of offering a free concert to the community.
“People love to hear him sing, and his witness goes along with his singing,” she said. “He’s an amazing individual.”
