Arthur L. “Buddy” Burks Jr., 77, of Jemison, died Aug. 9.

He was born on Nov. 15, 1937, in Alabama, the son of the late Arthur L. Burks Sr. and the late Jettie Coggins Burks.

He was a retired state trooper.

Surviving are his wife, Nelia N. Burks of Jemison; sister Elisia Smith (Albert) of Jemison; sons, Deryl Burks (Sonja) of Columbiana, Duane Burks (Mary) of Clanton, David Burks of Jemison, Joseph Burks and Jonathan Burks (Emily) of Jemison; daughters, Debbie Mitchell (Billy) of Shelby and Mary Ward (B.J.) of Jemison; 13 grandchildren and 25-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Burks.

Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 11 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.
