CCHS hosting 7-on-7 camp

At least three local teams will compete in a football “7-on-7” passing camp Thursday at Chilton County High School.
CCHS is hosting Isabella, Verbena, Autaugaville, Marbury and Montevallo; and other teams could be added this week.
Chilton coach Brian Bradford said the camp was designed for eight teams, but some squads that originally committed had to back out.
“We’re still working to fill those spots,” Bradford said.
The Tigers have participated in two such camps this summer, at Wetumpka on June 22 and 29.
Bradford said his focus for 7-on-7–which features scrimmages of “touch” football instead of tackle, with no offensive or defensive line–is simply to get the players out of the weight room and let them have fun while working on football skills.
“We just want to see the guys compete,” said Bradford, who is preparing his squad for his second season as coach. “We want to see who gets after it and who doesn’t.”
Games Thursday will begin at 9 a.m.,last about 20 minutes each with five-minute breaks in between games, and be played both at Tiger Stadium and the CCHS practice field.
Bradford said each team present would play every other team.
The event is open to the public.
