Martha Jean Gwin Smith, from McDonald’s Chapel, who also resided in Clanton, was standing at the edge of glory and took her final leap to be with her late daughters Sheila and Michelle Hayes, as well as her parents, Thomas and Willie Mae Gwin, on June 28 in Spring Hill, Fla.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Gwin of Mississippi; sisters, Donna Murr of Birmingham and Ellen Carlisle of Texas; husband, Thomas A. Smith Jr. of Clanton; daughter, Sandra Hayes of Spring Hill, Fla; granddaughters Jessica Ogelsby of Birmingham, Savannah Hayes and Arabella Hayes of Spring Hill, Fla.; grandson, Justin Ogelsby of Birmingham ;and two great-grandsons Caleb and Colton Mooney of Birmingham as well as nephew, Jason Smith of Clanton and numerous nieces and nephews.
