The following is an activity report of the Maplesville Police Department from May 16-June 27:
May 16
•Male found of couch unresponsive, died of natural causes: County Road 312
May 20
•Paper rolls caught fire for an unknown reason; plant personnel put the fire out: South Coast Paper
May 21
•Property damage after a tractor trailer dropped metal objects in the roadway; several vehicles hit the debris causing damage and flat tires: U.S. Highway 82
May 23
•Shoplifting: Baker’s Attic, U.S. Highway 82
May 27
•Private property accident occurred (vehicle missed a turn at night and went off into a ditch, slight vehicle damage): South Coast Paper
•While an officer was patrolling in the area of U.S. Highway 82 and Alabama Highway 22, he observed an elderly female whom was disoriented and walking in the road way; next of kin was notified and the female was picked up.
May 31
•Gas drive-off on U.S. Highway 82. Suspect failed to pay for gasoline and was captured on video. The suspect was arrested at his home on County Road 863.
June 2
•Arrest for giving a false name to a law enforcement officer after a traffic stop. The suspect had felony warrants with Autauga County and was using her sister’s name: U.S. Highway 82 at Mile Marker 106
June 6
•Fraudulent use of a credit card at Maplesville Bank for several hundred dollars, suspect was identified and warrants were obtained.
•Arrest for public intoxication after a man hit buggy holders in the parking lot with his vehicle; then entered the store under the influence and blamed the employees for his misfortune.
June 7
•Theft of property (missing money): Old Sawmill Road area of Maplesville
June 9
•Harassing communications: Timbers Grill, U.S. Highway 82
June 10
•Single-vehicle accident: Alabama Highway 22 and the Maplesville Service Center (driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a chain link fence, slight injuries and property damage)
June 16
•Arrest after a traffic stop for going too slow (driver had warrants and the passenger was drunk; both went to the county jail).
June 17
•Single-car accident (driver fell asleep and hit a tree, slight injuries and vehicle damage): Alabama Highway 183
June 21
•Ann officer was dispatched to Alabama Highway 191 for a motorcycle racing. The officer gave pursuit and stopped the motorcycle at the race track. The rider was from Pelham and was arrested for attempting to elude officers.
June 22
•Natural cause death: 900 block of Alabama Highway 22
June 27
•Arrest for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop for a tail light that was out: U.S. Highway 82 at the double bridges
