James “Jim” Popwell

James “Jim” Popwell, 91, of Clanton, passed away on June 23 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
He was born on March 31, 1924 in Clanton, son of the late Henry Popwell Sr. and Rosie Baker.
He was a furniture salesman with O.P. Klinner and Sons Furniture Store.
He is survived by his brother, Marvin Popwell (Bonda) of Huntsville; brother, Early Popwell (Carolyn) of Clanton; sister, Vera Abbott “Polly” of Selma; brother-in-law, Skipper Fulmer (Brenda) of Clanton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rosie Baker Popwell; wife, Eula Fulmer Popwell; brothers, Marshall Popwell, William Popwell, Bill Popwell, Henry Popwell Jr. and J.W. Popwell; sister, Vedie Lee.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on June 26 from the Memorial Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.
Burial followed in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Clanton.
The family received friends on June 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
