Board of Education approves school requests

The Chilton County Board of Education approved a list of school requests at its meeting Tuesday.
The school requests included:
•Verbena High School: Approved JaStarza White, Christopher Davenport and Sharon Kelley as volunteer marching band assistants; and approval for David Stegall’s coaching supplement to be changed from assistant junior high coach to head junior high coach.
•Chilton County High School: Approval for the Clanton Lions Club to use the auditorium on June 15-26, pending verification of insurance, for the annual Peach Pageants; and approval for the Clanton Lions Club to use the lunchroom on June 20, pending verification of insurance, for the Peach Pageant.
•Jemison High School: Approval for Brooke Elliott to attend the 2015 National TSA Conference in Dallas from June 27 to July 3.
•LeCroy Career Technical Center: Approval for Jason Sosa to attend the 2015 National TSA Conference in Dallas from June 27 to July 3.
•Maplesville High School: Approval of the agreement by and between Coca-Cola Bottling Company United LLC and the school.
In other business, the board:
•Approved the May financial statements and bank reconciliations as presented by Steve Yeargan, chief financial officer.
•Approved the May payrolls and accounts payable.
•Approved the minutes of the previous meeting.
•Approved child nutrition program requests.
•Approved special education program requests.
•Approved the memorandum of understanding by and between the Chilton County School System, Gina Riley and the Alabama State Department of Education.
•Approved the flu/wellness clinic schedule for PEEHIP participants.
•Approved the school-based flu mist clinics in Chilton County schools.
•Approved the lease agreement by and between the Chilton County Board of Education and Pitney Bowes.
•Approved the following resignations: Allen Deason, teacher and bus driver at LCTC, effective Aug. 1; Lynn Coe Hauswirth, teacher at Verbena, effective May 23; Lisa Ready, teacher at Thorsby, effective June 30; Robin Parker, special education/collaborative teacher, effective June 8; Lee Mehler, bus shop, effective July 1; Josey Shannon, physical education teacher at Clanton Intermediate, effective June 16; and David Seale, PASS Academy, effective June 30.
•Tabled a decision about a recommendation to approve bids for plumbing services, tile installation and electrician services. Board members said the decision should be delayed to allow the system’s new maintenance supervisor to be involved in the process.
•Approved employees and the transfer of employees.
•Approved to post vacancies as needed.
As part of Superintendent Tommy Glasscock’s report, he recommended changing the date of the board’s next meeting from July 21 to July 28, and the recommendation was approved.
