Virginia Ruth Ray, 74, of Jemison, passed away April 3 at her home.

She was born on Feb. 23, 1941, in Shelby County, the daughter of the late Sam F. Brasher and the late Mary Katherine Ellison Brasher.

She was a registered nurse.

Surviving are her daughter, Gwen Southard (Pat) of Jemison; sons, Kenneth Ray (Susan) of Birmingham and Carl Ray (Kellie) of Jemison; brothers, Frank Brasher of Jemison, George Brasher of Jemison; sister, Mary Spain of Helena; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Ray.

Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. April 7 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held April 7 at 11 a.m. at Martin Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Champion officiating.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.
