Corinth Missionary Baptist Church

We had a wonderful service this past week. If you missed out, you really missed a blessing.

Don’t forget that next Sunday we will dedicate the painting Mrs. Threlkeld made for us. It will also be the day on which we hold our usual Fifth Sunday Singing with lunch afterward.

Our annual Easter egg hunt and social will be held on April 4 at 4 p.m. We will have food, fun, games and fellowship. We hope to see you there. As always, be sure and check our Facebook page (CorinthMissionaryBaptist) for all our latest events and happenings.

I’d like to share an anonymous quote I saw recently: “Let go of people who dull your shine, poison your spirit and bring you drama. Cancel your subscription to their issues.”

This is such a simple little quote with a huge message. If you are hanging around those who are constantly bringing you down and making you feel less than what you are, leave their company. You should be around people who lift you up and make you feel wonderful. (We should all strive to be the person that makes others feel good.) If your “friends” are constantly taking you down a road that shouldn’t be traveled, they aren’t truly your friends. It’s time to find some company that is worth being around.

Until next time, may God bless you and keep you. We hope to see you soon!

Mt. Carmel No. 1 Baptist Church

Yes, it was a rainy day this past Sunday, but instead of looking at it as a dreary day, let’s thank God for showers of blessings. God knows what we need and when we need it. His blessings were also upon us in our worship services.

On Sunday morning, the choir and Leslie Lambert provided special music. The choir sang “One Holy Morning,” and Leslie’s selection was the inspiring song “Above All.”

Bro. Terry Smith brought us God’s message from Matthew 27:33-50. He titled it “What Happened at Calvary.”

We owe everything to what happened just outside the walls of Jerusalem at the place called Calvary. Without this event we would have no hope. What happened at Calvary is the center of what all Christians believe. The events of Calvary happened to provide a way for man to have forgiveness of sin. Without this forgiveness, there is no fellowship available for mankind with God.

Why was Christ willing to endure the pain and humiliation for sinful man? He did it because of the unconditional love he has for everyone. God doesn’t want anyone to go to hell. Choosing to accept the gift of forgiveness and salvation that Calvary’s events provide is the way we escape the eternal destiny of hell. This gift of grace is what happened at Calvary.

Sunday evening, after Discipleship Training, we continued our study of other religions.

Upcoming events:

A yard sale is scheduled for March 28 starting at 8:30 a.m. It will be under the pecan trees south of Thorsby where County Road 29 crosses U.S. Highway 31. All proceeds will go to Relay For Life.

At 6 p.m. on April 3, there will be a glow-in-the-dark egg hunt for children at the church. All children are invited to join us for fun and games. If you would like, you can bring plastic eggs with glow sticks. Supper will be provided.

A reminder to all choir members: Practice will be held after the morning service on March 28. A pizza lunch will be provided, just bring a drink of your choice.

The Easter musical “Grace that Amazes” will be presented on April 5 during the morning worship service.

Those on our prayer list this week include Faye Franklin, Jennifer Watley, Kaye Franklin, Carol Luker, Tammy Harmon, Jenny Hayes, Elladene Mims, Donald Liveoak, Reba Chambers and Gladys Franklin.
