Delano Doyle Lucas

Delano Doyle Lucas, of Hoover, passed away March 3 at the age of 80. He was co-founder of Hoover Plumbing LLC and founder of Lucas Excavating for more than 40 years. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Germany.
He is preceded in death by his parents, C.B. and Lester Lucas; two brothers, W.C. Lucas and Junior Lucas and two sisters, Sybel Wilkerson and Clovis Deale.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gertrude Lucas; two sons, Michael Lucas and Ralph Lucas (Terri); four granddaughters, Jessica Fortner (Joey) and Sara Lucas, Summer Lucas and Savannah Lucas; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jenna Fortner; one brother, Don Lucas (Joyce) and three sisters, Ila Butler, Betty Chambliss and Kerry Foley.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. March 6 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on Highway 150 in Hoover. Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Raymond Bean officiating. Interment will be in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Chilton County.
