Gene Autry Popwell, 72, of Clanton, died Feb. 12 at his residence.

He was born on Jan. 17, 1943, in Chilton County, the son of Lula Popwell.

He was a superintendent.

Surviving are daughters, Rachel Popwell (Russ) Barton of Birmingham, Candy Popwell (Jason) Williams of Millbrook, Michelle Popwell  of Clanton; grandchildren, Taylor, Tye, Hayden, Jake, Payton, Zaychary, Frank and Cayde; mother, Lula Bowden of Hueytown;  sisters, June Traywick of Clanton, Myra Parker of Clanton and Peggy Ellison of Clanton; brother, Jerry Popwell of Clanton.

Friends will be received from  2-3 p.m. Feb. 14 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with services to follow at 3 pm. The Rev. Jim Shannon will officiate.

Interment will follow in Chilton Memorial Gardens, Clanton.
