Clara Crew Smith

Clara Crew Smith, age 90, of Clanton, passed away Feb. 12 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Smith was born in Cairo, Ga., on Aug. 18, 1924, to the late James Isaac Crew and Queenie Beatrice DeVaughn Crew.
She was married to the late Chilton County Probate Judge George Douglas Smith for 57 years until his passing in 2003.
Smith is survived by her three children, Randall (Debbie White), Karen (Pat Moore) and Keith (Kathy Joiner); nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A graduate of Chilton County High School, she spent the majority of her working years in public service at the Chilton County Courthouse.
As a true Southern matriarch, Smith was a strong and independent woman who was devoted to her family.

Visitation will take place at the Martin Funeral Home in Clanton on Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. followed by the service in the chapel at 11 a.m.
