Melvin Donald Rhodes, 78, of Clanton, died Feb. 5 at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 9, 1936, in Chilton County, son of the late Bud Rhodes and the late Susie Cleckley Rhodes.

He was a retired iron worker.

Surviving are wife, Marie Cleckler Rhodes of Clanton; son, Jerry Rhodes of Clanton; three daughters, Ann (Kenny) Courtney of Clanton, Debbie (Rickie) Easterling and Sherrie (James) Heflin, all of Clanton; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m. on Feb. 8 at Clanton Church of God, with services at 2 p.m. The Rev. Billy Boatwright and the Rev. Joey Boatwright will be officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Clanton. Martin Funeral Home directing.
