Thomasina Varden Barnett, 78, of Clanton, passed away on Jan. 28 at her residence.

She was born in Jefferson County on March 20, 1936, the daughter of the late Arthur Varden and the late Gladys Ellison Varden Duck.

She was a former receptionist.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Renshaw of Clanton; two granddaughters; one grandson; five great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Duck of Sumiton; sister, Debbie Gray of Vincent; sister, Mary Sue Ray of Jemison and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Howard Barnett; son, Thomas Barnett; father, Arthur Varden; mother, Gladys Varden Duck; brother, Wayne Varden; brother, Royce Earl Varden and sister, Leila Mae Peters.

Visitation will be held Feb. 3 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home.

A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Jemison with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.
