Master Joseph Dawson Garcia, 9, of Verbena, passed away on Jan. 18 at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

He was born in Alabaster on March 26, 2005, the son of Pablo Garcia and Brandi Smitherman Garcia.

He was a loving child who attended Clanton Intermediate School.

He is survived by his father, Pablo Garcia of Verbena; mother, Brandi Smitherman Garcia of Verbena; brother, Pablo Garcia Jr. of Verbena; sisters, Santana Garcia and Brandi Lexis Garcia of Verbena; grandmother, Lori Hilyer of Clanton; grandfather, Randel Headley of Atlanta; grandmother, Jylia Romero of Clanton; and grandfather, Rolando Romera of Mexico.

Visitation will be held Jan. 20 from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Harmony Holiness Church Cemetery in Clanton.
