Daisy Wylodean Martin Burns

Daisy Wylodean Martin Burns was born in Chilton County on May 6, 1932. Following a lengthy illness, she died at her home near Verbena on Dec. 31, 2014. She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth Steven Gray (Janice) of Clanton, Joel Ray Gray (Rhonda) of Verbena and Mark Randall Gray (Kim) of Montevallo; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one sister, Glenda (Charles) Bush of Opelika and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Bessie Martin; her husband and the father of her three sons, Kenneth V. Gray; husbands, Clyde Sublett, Ben Thornton and Wallace Burns; sisters, Mary Martin Price and Carolyn Martin Fleshman. Burns’ surviving extended family includes the children and grandchildren of the Sublett, Thornton and Burns families. Burns was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in the Enterprise community. She was a graduate of Verbena High School and was retired from the United States Postal Service. Friends were received from 5-8 p.m. on Jan. 2 at Martin Funeral Home. Services will be held Jan. 3 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Baptist Cemetery, Verbena. Martin Funeral Home directing.
