In a game that was undecided until the final period, the Chilton County’s boys picked up their first win of the season, 60-41, on Monday over Thorsby.

Brock Higgins got the game started with his first of three three-pointers in the first period to give the Rebels an early 3-0 lead.

A James Sellers free throw and another Higgins three-pointer gave Thorsby a 7- 0 lead before Tyler Henderson and Tolliver Gilliland rained in back-to-back three-pointers for the Tigers to draw to within two points of the lead.

Michael Fortner and Higgins kept the three-point trend going with two more from long distance as the Rebels shot a combined for five-for-eight from three-point range on their way to a 17-16 first period lead.

Gilliland continue the three-point shooting display as the second period got underway to give the Tigers their first lead of the game.

A Keaton Sullivan free throw extended the Tigers’ lead to three points, but Noah Byrd completed a three-point play the old fashioned way to tie the game at 20-all.

With the Tigers leading by two, a Grayson Brice basket sent the teams to the locker room for the halftime break tied at 26-all.

A Dante Davis free throw started a 6-0 Tigers run before a Wesley Posey basket broke the run.

Devin Austin added another Tigers three-point basket, but Byrd answered with a three for the Rebels.

Going to the final period of play, the Tigers led 41-35.

Davis, Keishun White and Henderson powered a 6-0 run by the Tigers to start the fourth period.

A Michael Fortner basket drew the Rebels to within 12 points of the Tigers with 3:41 to play, but that would be the closest the Rebels would get.

Gilliliand led the Tigers with 13 points (including three-of-seven from three-point range), four rebounds and three steals.

Fortner led the Rebels with 11 points, three rebounds and a block.
