A Clanton native, she has experience in Christian education and ministry, pastoral care, administration and music education.

She had previously served as hospice community relations coordinator in east Alabama, most recently in Tuskegee and rural areas.

Brewi earned a B.S. in music and drama from Indiana University, a master’s degree in religious education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, a master of divinity degree from Southern Christian University and has additional training and supervised clinical practice in clinical pastoral education.

Brewi has served a number of volunteer organizations in fundraising, administrative and “hand-on” positions.

These groups vary in interests from the Alabama Chaplain’s Association, the American Association of University Women and the American Heart Association to Auburn Arts Association, Auburn Ballet Company and Auburn Area Community Theatre.

“We are excited and fortunate to have someone with Barbara’s credentials and experience join our staff,” said Rob West, senior pastor at CFUMC. “She is already playing an important role in our ministry plan.”
