For the police department, Chief Todd Ingram said the department made headway in an investigation regarding recent burglaries at Greene’s Diesel Repair.
Ingram said the department obtained a warrant for the suspect, who allegedly stole a compressor and scrap metal from the business.
Officer Bridgette Ellis told the council the department has received positive feedback lately on its commitment to following through with investigations and cases.
“We’re conducting more follow-ups on burglaries,” Ellis said. “You will see huge changes in the very near future.”
Ingram said the department’s car cameras are starting to malfunction and will need to be replaced soon.
The cameras are about seven years old, he said, and becoming antiquated.
“They get outdated very quick nowadays,” Ingram said.
The cost of buying new cameras for five police cars would be about $13,000, Ingram said.
The council tabled a decision on the police car cameras.
Court Clerk Cindy Brown presented the municipal court report for June, which started with 822 outstanding warrants, ended with 827 warrants, and included 20 issued, two recalled and 11 warrants served.
