BB&T Bank donated goodie bags for clients at Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of Chilton County as part of their annual Lighthouse Project that benefits organizations in the community.
The goodie bags will be distributed to Care Net’s clients that are undergoing a crisis pregnancy, and are in need of support and encouragement.
Prenatal vitamins and personal hygiene products such as toothpaste and shampoo are among the items in the goodie bags.
Care Net Executive Director Susan Scott said in the beginning stages of a client’s pregnancy, they need to know that people care, and these bags provide them with something to feel good about.
“A lot of women want to know where they can find prenatal vitamins and how much they cost,” Scott said. “Now, they can begin their prenatal care as soon as they find out that they are expecting, which benefits the mother and child.”
The Clanton and Jemison branches of BB&T Bank get involved with local organizations every year through their Lighthouse Project.
Previous Lighthouse Projects have donated items to Special Olympics, DHR and Clanton Elementary School.
BB&T Relationship Bankers Dana Calfee and Sherry Daugherty said the bank chooses the organization by their need of assistance.
“Our bank’s mission is to value and help our communities through this project,” Calfee said. “We enjoy being involved in faith-based mission work.”
In addition to helping women who are faced with unplanned pregnancies, Care Net also offers abstinence education, adoption education and post-abortion support.
