“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” (Psalm 121:1-8)

Thought for the week: ‘To Any Daddy’

There are little eyes upon you and they’re watching night and day.

There are little ears that quickly take in every word you say.

There are little hands all eager to do anything you do;

And a little boy who’s dreaming of the day he’ll be like you.

You’re the little fellow’s idol; you’re the wisest of the wise.

In his little mind about you no suspicions ever rise.

He believes in you devoutly, holds all you say and do;

He will say and do, in your way when he’s grown up just like you.

There’s a wide-eyed little fellow who believes you’re always right;

And his eyes are always opened, and he watches day and night.

You are setting an example every day in all you do;

For the little boy who’s waiting to grow up to be like you.

Announcements

Worship at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with a praise service of scripture, prayer and songs.

The morning prayer was given by Pastor Dukes and Associate Minister Steven Nunn.

Songs sung were “Come and Go to the Land,” “Thank You for Mercy,” “Lord, I Want You to Move” and “Running for Jesus.”

The message theme was “The World vs. the Church.” We need a renewed mind. A Christian life begins with total commitment. You are either for God or against him. Now present your body magnifying God. Show his spirit in you.

Be not conformed by the world. Let the mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus. If your enemy is hungry, feed him. That is the mind of Christ. In order to be like God, you must have his mind. The Church must have the mind of Christ. Do something about your mind. Go to Jesus and receive a mind renewed, confess God’s word, study his word, say what God says. Think and talk like God; walk like him with no fear or anxiety. It gives you victory instead of defeat. Stay close to God.

The fellowship was by Pastor Dukes, the deacons and the congregation.

On our sick list, we ask you to remember in your prayers: James Singleterry, Martha Binion, Larry Wilson, Pete Wilson, Annie Faye Cooper, Barbara Nix, Sam and Vivian Hicks, Harold Frazier, Gary Singleterry, Minnie Avery, Sue Braswell, Lisa Wright and J.R. Booker.

May God heal and strengthen them in his care in our prayer.
