Pastor Bro. Jeff Carroll’s text comes from 1 Corinthians 8:1-13 titled “The Conscience of Man.”
Conscious is being aware of what is right or wrong. Unconsciousness is totally unaware of what is right or wrong. Holy consciousness is when God lets you know you have something you need to get settled between you and him. A moral compose is used to guide our way in life. Lord imprint your word upon our hearts that we may not sin against thee. God put in each of us a natural guidance to know right from wrong, and he will judge us according to our conscience.
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times, some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies and hypocrisy and having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, (back-sliding into sin). We see evidence today of this nation being seared by the devil. We live in a drunken, immoral, profane, society, all of which are an abomination unto God. We see evil spirits and demons trying to seduce Christians from their faith to the pits of hell.
All who lose their conscience of God will lose all hope of salvation. The only thing that can cleanse our hearts, souls and minds is to stay strong in the faith so that in your time of weakness, Satan cannot enter in to steal your joy in Christ.
What can make me whole? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! What can cleanse and make me whole? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Are you conscious of where you are in your relationship with Christ? Or are you unconscious, without a clue where you stand in your relationship with Christ? In The name of Jesus ask him to search your heart for anything that needs to be settled between you and him. Repent and be cleansed today.
Love to all and have a blessed week. We invite everyone to join us for praise and worship at Cedar Grove!
Bethany Baptist Church
Service opened with a hymn, and then the devotional titled “The Great Commandment” from Matthew 22:36-40. Jesus was asked the question: “Who is my neighbor?” So, who is our neighbor? Only those living around us? No, our neighbor is anyone whom we come in contact with as we go about our daily business, whatever that may be. We should love our neighbors after we first love God.
After a prayer we were dismissed to Sunday school.
After the singing, Bro. Aubry brought the morning message from Genesis 24:50-58. Abraham, father of the Hebrew people, was old and wanted his son Isaac to be married. He sends a servant to his native land with the purpose of finding a wife for Isaac. The servant obeys and finds a bride, Rebekah, for Isaac. The important question for Rebekah was, “Wilt thou go with this man?” She said, “I will go.” Abraham, the father of Isaac, is a picture of God; the servant, a picture of the Holy Spirit; Rebekah, a picture of the saved; and Isaac is a picture of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is here in the world today looking for a bride for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit convicts us so we will be saved and have Jesus living in our hearts. Will we go with Jesus? As Isaac was a mystery to Rebekah, so is Jesus to a lost person. Jesus needs to be explained. The Holy Spirit will guide you along the way once you have been saved. He is a teacher for us. It is not important for a young saved person to know all about God. That will come as we mature in Christ. Once saved, we are co-heirs with Jesus Christ. As Isaac took care of Rebekah, Jesus Christ will care for his bride. To be called by God to come to his Son for salvation is an honor. Once we are saved, we will be eternally with Jesus Christ and God. We do not know what we will face after being saved, until Jesus comes again. Don’t worry, God’s will is laid out for our life and we are going home to be with Jesus forever. Rewards are coming for the faithful saved.
Services closed with a prayer and a hymn.
Evening services opened with a hymn “What Will You Do with Jesus” After our monthly business meeting, Bro. Aubry brought the message from Acts 4:13-20.
The people in the town saw the boldness of Peter and John as they spoke about Jesus. They saw the things they did in the name of Jesus. They really wanted to shut Peter and John up. They wanted them to quit talking about Jesus. Peter and John asked if it was right for them to do what the people wanted, or what Jesus wanted them to do. What should we as a church do to help us grow spiritually and in members?
We closed with a prayer. Our prayer list includes: our church, VBS, missionaries, Bro. Paul Armstrong and family at Journey Baptist Mission, Bro.
