Mountain Springs Church
Services started with Bro. Kenneth Moates leading the church in the following hymns: “He Lives,” “The Old Gospel Ship,” “I’d Rather Be an Old-Time Christian” and “I’m in a New World.”
Bro. Roger Cleckler gave a devotion from Psalms 26:2. Imagine if the Lord examined our lives. What would he say about your life?
After Sunday school, Bro. Kenneth led the church in the hymn “When We All Get to Heaven” and Ricky Cleckler sang “Who Am I.”
Bro. Heath Vines preached from Timothy 2:1-4. We need to be strong in the grace that God has provided for us. God’s grace is sufficient in all circumstances. If we focus on his grace then we will have no need to worry.
We had a wonderful time worshiping the Lord at the nursing home. The youth sang “Boundless Love” and “Thank You Lord,” and Bro. Heath gave a devotion. It was a blessing to be able to spend time with everyone there.
Sunday night’s service began with Bro. Kenneth leading the church in the hymn “Just a Little Talk with Jesus,” “A New Name in Glory,” and “Where the Soul Never Dies.”
Bro. Kenneth gave a devotion from Psalms 27:4. We should have a desire to dwell in the house of God.
Bro. Heath preached the second part of his message from the morning’s text in 2 Timothy 2:1-4. We get so caught up in trying to please everyone when what we need to do is please God. Who are you aiming to please?
Calvary Independent Baptist Church
Sunday morning’s service included a message from John 21 titled “Here We Go Again.”
Here in John 21:1 the phrase “after these things” appears for the 19th time in the word of God. The Lord wants us to pay attention. After all that he has said and done, the power of suggestion presented by the Apostle Peter was “I go a fishing.” This brought about power of influence in that the other disciples also decided to go fishing. It was a night activity that brought night results.
We all can make wrong decisions and make plenty of excuses for the life we live, but the Lord knows the truth of the matter. Peter found himself naked before the Lord. The Lord sees all because he knows our thoughts and even the intent of our heart.
We also clearly see how there is the power of resurrection in view here. When they looked to Jesus and listened to his instructions to cast their nets on the right side they had meat to eat. When the Lord called for them to come and dine, his power of provision is seen in the fact that there was already fish and bread prepared for them. I wonder how many times people make decisions and go places and never really know what the Lord is doing.
Make sure you aren’t sailing through life out in a boat while leaving the Lord Jesus Christ standing on the shore.
Sunday night’s service included a message on theology and how the Lord Jesus Christ is the absolute proof that there is a God. We looked at Hebrews 1:1-6 and saw how in times past, God and God’s message was revealed to men by the prophets. We read Balaam’s testimony in Numbers 24:13-14 saying only the words God had given him.
We looked at Moses, Elias and even the prophet Jonas and we also looked at how Jesus Christ is greater than all these. There is no greater prophet, greater priest or greater king than the Lord Jesus Christ. We know in Acts 4 that there is no other name given that a man must be saved, and we also know according to Philippians 2 that every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess the name of Jesus. Yet when we look at Psalms 138:2, we know that the word of God has been magnified far above even his name. The written word reveals to us the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the person of the Lord Jesus Christ reveals unto us the invisible God. Many claim to know God, yet reject Jesus Christ; in reality, to know Jesus is to know God, and to not know Jesus is to not know God.
We hope you know the Lord Jesus Christ today. We would like to invite you to visit with us this Sunday. We will have VBS beginning June 8 at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 9 through Friday, June 13, VBS will be held each night from 6-8 p.m. This year, we will include an adult class, so make plans to attend!
