Walnut Creek United Methodist Church of Clanton is hosting “The Cotton Patch Gospel” on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. This live musical presentation is a Deep South-flavored rendering of the entire life of Jesus from birth to resurrection.
“The Cotton Patch Version of the New Testament” was written by Clarence Jordan in the 1960s. Jordan was also instrumental in founding Habitat for Humanity. In 1981, songwriter Harry Chapin adapted “The Cotton Patch Gospel” for the Broadway stage.
The public is invited to hear the story of Jesus in southern dialect this Sunday like you’ve probably never heard it before! Y’all come join us and you’ll sho’ nuff be glad you did!
