Clanton council makes parks personnel decisions

Clanton’s City Council on Monday made personnel decisions related to city parks.
Councilman Greg DeJarnett told fellow council members that the director of the E.M. Henry Park in the West End community had resigned from the position.
The council unanimously approved making Royce Rogers the part-time park director until a full-time solution could be found.
Rogers has worked at the park in a part-time capacity.
The council also unanimously approved Caleb Smith for a part-time position at Clanton City Park.
In other business, the council:
•Heard from representatives of Clanton First Assembly of God about closing a road at the church. Mayor Billy Joe Driver said the road was more like an alley, but is listed as a city road. Driver said he would go over the issue with city attorney John Hollis Jackson and get back to the church representatives.
•Heard from Will Brooke, who seeks to replace Spencer Bachus for the 6th Congressional Seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Brooke talked about his experience and platform. The 6th District includes Chilton County.
