Sarah Nell Moton, 85, of the Mineral Springs Community in Jemison, passed away on Jan. 6 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.

She was born in Chilton County on Sept. 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Grady Martin and the late Leona Peters Martin.

She was retired from Valley Mills in Columbiana.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was a faithful member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

She is survived by her daughter, LaRita Dunn (Lynn) of Brierfield; daughter, Joyce Varden of Foley; son, Johnny Mack Moton (Patty) of Shelby; son, Sammy Moton of Pelham; daughter, Tammy Ratliff (Johnny Ray) of Maplesville; son, Grady Moton (Stacey) of Clanton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie Martin (Joyce) of Clanton; brother, James Martin (Cathy) of Pelham; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Moton; son, Michael Moton; grandsons, Quinton Varden and Stevey Moton; granddaughters, Brandi Boockholdt and Tricia Meherg; parents, Grady and Leona Martin; along with two sisters and five brothers.

Visitation will be held Jan. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home in Clanton.

Funeral services will be held Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. from Mineral Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.

The body will be in state one hour prior to the services at the church.

Burial will follow in the Mineral Springs Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
