This week’s historically low temperatures will be dangerous to Chilton County residents without sufficient heat sources.

A warming station for those in need will be be located at 612 Second Avenue North in Clanton, next to Peoples Southern Bank, according to Bill Collum, Chilton County Emergency Management Agency director.

The station will be open from 6 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Collum said security will be provided, and coffee and snacks will be available, but those who come shouldn’t expect a full meal.

If more people arrive than can fit in the building, Collum said other arrangements would be made to ensure all who are looking for heated space are accommodated.

“We’ll handle as many as can come,” he said.
