In other news, the commission:
•Approved a revised bill as presented by the Chilton County Hospital Board giving state legislative delegation of Sen. Cam Ward and Rep. Kurt Wallace the option to hold a special referendum earlier than the 2014 primary election for a temporary 1-cent sales tax increase to build a county-owned hospital facility.
The state Legislature would have to approve the bill and Chilton County residents would have to vote in favor of the tax increase in an upcoming referendum.
•Voted to rename County Road 10 in Maplesville to Tim Mims Memorial Lane. Commissioner Joe Headley said the portion of the road would be from County Road 22 to U.S. Highway 82 in Maplesville.
Headley said Mims lived at the end of County Road 10 but a portion of the road was property owned by the town of Maplesville.
“I don’t think they would have a problem with us naming it that,” Headley said.
Agee said he was in favor of the road being renamed but he wanted to see the impact of individuals who lived on the road who would be affected by having to change their address for mail to be delivered.
Headley said the changing of the name would not hinder the mail as it would just be renaming the road.
Commissioners unanimously voted to have County Road 10 renamed in honor of former commissioner Tim Mims who passed away in early November. Commissioners will contact the town of Maplesville to discuss renaming the road to Tim Mims Memorial Lane.
•Passed a resolution reclassifying County Road 359 to a major collector.

•After hearing that the Chilton County Tax Assessor, Chilton County Probate Judge and Chilton County Tax Collector wanted to change the approved holiday for the county, which is set as Dec. 31, to Dec. 23, the commission voted to leave the holiday schedule as previously approved.
“The problem I have with changing it is we approved this months ago and now just a few days before they are wanting to change what we have already done,” Caton said.
•Voted to cancel the commission meeting scheduled for Dec. 23.
Commissioners Agee, Moore, Headley and Hayes voted in favor of canceling the meeting.
Commissioners Caton and Welch voted against canceling the meeting. The next commission meeting will be Jan. 13, 2014 at 6 p.m.
