Rocky Mount United Methodist Church
We hope everyone had a good Labor Day holiday and a good week to follow the great start.
Sunday’s worship service began with scripture from Luke 14:1, 7-14. In this scripture, Jesus teaches a lesson in humility, a lesson we should all read and practice. As Bro. Phil began his sermon, he relayed many interesting facts about General Robert E. Lee, the War Between the States, Arlington National Cemetery and how all these tied together for a great lesson in humility. In this lesson, we also got to make a mental image of Bro. Phil as a United States Air Force Chaplain in his ceremonial uniform, looking at the seating chart for important events to see where he was to sit. We should learn to check our proper places and be willing to give others their just rewards.
We are not a hotel for saints, but a hospital for sinners. Invite everyone to church with you; don’t just look for those you feel could sit at the head table. “Call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee; for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”
Rocky Mount invites you to come join us. Statistics show that less than 20 percent of the population attends church on a regular basis. Are you one of the 80 percent who do not have a church home? Join us. We are a small church where you will not be anonymous. We will recognize you and appreciate you.
