James Ronald “Ronnie” Surles, 65, of Jemison, passed away Sept. 27 at his residence in Jemison.
He was born on June 11, 1948, in Montgomery, the son of the late Ronald Surles and the late Ozelle Deason Surles.
He was a salesman.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Surles of Jemison; daughters, Micki Turner (Jay) of Randolph, Lisa Surles (John Herron) of Jemison, Crystal Blozik (John) of Diana, Texas; sisters, Jerry Smitherman of Jones; Judi Edwards (Houston) of Selma, Susan Taylor (Wayne) of Selma, Sarah Sims of Billingsley, Terri Achtemeier (Allen) of Prattville; grandchildren, Haylee Jackson (Bud) of Jemison, Taylor Beth Gibson of Randolph, Savannah Crumpton (Jonah) of Jemison, Trey Turner of Montgomery, Amber Ellison of Jemison, Katie Ellison of Diana, Texas, Christian Dennis of Diana, Texas; five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Ozelle Surles.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be held on Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. at Mars Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. William Earl Short, the Rev. Mark Lovett and the Rev. Tommy Thompson officiating.
Interment will follow in Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison.
