UM volleyball team effort will benefit Jemison animal shelter

The University of Montevallo volleyball team is partnering up with Joe Jackson’s Dog World, a “no-kill” animal shelter and sanctuary located in Jemison, for its upcoming “Falcons 4 Paws” event at the next home match Friday, Sept. 27 against Peach Belt Conference rival Flagler College at Trustmark Arena.
The Falcons are operating a drive to help supply Joe Jackson’s Dog World with supplies it needs to run the shelter. Fans are encouraged to bring the supplies with them to the match against Flagler, which begins at 6 p.m.
Joe Jackson’s Dog World will have dogs at the front entrance of Trustmark Arena for fans to adore from 5:15-6 p.m. while donations are being collected.
Items requested include the following:
•Dry dog food (Purina Pro Plan Shredded Chicken Adult preferred)
•Purina brand can dog food
•Treats (Not “Made in China”)
•Leashes and collars
•Stainless steel water bowls and stainless steel food bowls
•Wire crates
•Dog beds
•Blankets and toys
•Flea and tick shampoo (oatmeal), shedding combs and grooming brushes, towels and blankets
•Paper towels and cleaning items (anti-bacterial lemon cleaner, bleach, wash detergent)
•Capstar and Comfortis flea tablets
•Cash (online donations can be made through website.)
Donations will also be accepted in the lobby of the Robert M. McChesney Student Activity Center any time during the week.
Joe Jackson’s Dog World is also a 10-acre fenced dog park for visitors to enjoy time with their pets in a safe environment. The shelter has expansion plans to add horse trails and campsites to create a unique experience for animal lovers.
