FRIDAY NIGHT PREVIEW: Red Devils ready for stiff test

Marbury (0-4) at Chilton Co. (2-2)
After a winless start to its season, Marbury might seem like a perfect homecoming opponent. But there are a lot of quality teams that would be 0-4 after playing opponents such as Stanhope Elmore and Ben Russell.
Thorsby (1-3) at Horseshoe Bend (1-3)
After a season-opening victory over Verbena, Thorsby has been unable to get back into the win column. The Rebels will have another opportunity this week at Horseshoe Bend, a team that looks comparable to THS.
Verbena (0-4) at Isabella (4-0)
What normally would be a contest between two county rivals instead will see two teams headed in opposite directions this season. Isabella is unbeaten and headed toward a playoff berth, while Verbena is focused on finding a win.
Holtville (0-4) at Jemison (3-1)
Jemison led late in last week’s game but still lost to Bibb County. The Panthers could get back on track—and enjoy a happy homecoming—with a win this week over winless Holtville. Then, JHS (below) will resume region play.
Chilton Christian (1-4) at Lindsay Lane
Four losses in five games to begin the season have been disheartening. If that weren’t enough, the Patriots are having to deal with injuries to important contributors, such as losing quarterback Zack Pittman in last week’s game.
