In other business, Nikki Morrison with the State Examiner’s Office presented the board’s audit report from Oct. 1, 2011, through Sept. 30, 2012, noting the board had complied with all applicable laws and regulations.
Three visitors, Jay LeCroy, H.F. Scott and Jemison High School Principal Allen Wilson, addressed the board.
LeCroy requested to take local robotics students to Georgia to compete in an engineering event sponsored by NASCAR and the United States Army on Oct. 5.
The board approved LeCroy’s request pending submission of all necessary paperwork to the board by the end of the week.
Scott asked the board whether repairs on a road near Jemison Middle School would be completed soon.
Chilton County Schools Superintendent Dave Hayden said maintenance supervisor Wayne Howell would be contacting the construction company responsible for the road’s repairs this week.
Wilson thanked the board for approving renovations that were completed on the former Jemison Middle School building on the JHS campus over the summer.
“We just wanted to take the opportunity to say that we really appreciate having the access to the building that we acquired over the summer,” Wilson said. “It’s made our entire campus a much more enjoyable place to be. We do appreciate it.”
