The Central High School of Coosa County Cougars outlasted region foe Thorsby 24-16 on Friday.
The Cougars led 18-2 at the half, with Thorsby’s lone score coming via a snap over the punter’s head that went out of bounds.
Defensive end Trey Royal was a nightmare for Thorsby. He racked up nine tackles and one forced fumble. One of his hits resulted in a serious arm injury to Thorsby’s quarterback.
Thorsby was bottled up until the second half, where it cut the deficit to 18-16.
Thorsby only had one first down in the first half, and turned the ball over three times.
