Wreck on I-65 results in one fatality

Authorities are continuing to investigate a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 northbound Thursday morning that resulted in one fatality.
The crash occurred at 7:15 a.m. on I-65 at the 218-mile marker.
Jackie Alan Faircloth, 68, of Eclectic, was killed when the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee he was a passenger in collided with a 1997 Toyota Camry driven by Calvin Ousley of Jemison.
Alabama State Troopers responded to the scene of the crash at about 7:45 a.m. on I-65 northbound that was temporarily shut down between mile markers 212 and 219.
Alabama Department of Public Safety Sgt. Steve Jarrett said Faircloth was not wearing a seat belt.
Ousley was not injured.
The driver of the Cherokee, Patricia Faircloth McCain, 67, of Tallassee was transported to UAB Hospital with serious injuries.
The Clanton Police Department was on the scene of the crash rerouting northbound traffic off I-65 Exit 212 to Alabama 145 (Lay Dam Road) and then to U.S. Highway 31.
The northbound portion of I-65 was reopened shortly after 10 a.m.
