Mount Carmel No. 1
We had a great time at the VBS kick-off/Family Fun Night on Saturday. The games, fun and refreshments were awesome. We would like to extend special thanks to all who put forth the work in making all this happen. VBS is June 23-28 from 6-8:30 p.m. each night, with Commencement on June 28 at 7 p.m. Come one, come all.
The choir blessed us on Sunday by singing a special song titled “He Knows My Name,” which was appropriate for Father’s Day service. The father’s in the church were recognized and given a copy of the prayer and devotion book, “Strong in the Lord.”
Bro. Derrell’s message was from Luke 8:40-42 and titled “A Father Like Jairus.” Jairus, president of the local synagogue, ordered worship services and saw that religion was upheld, but when tragedy threatened his family, this distinguished ruler turned to Jesus. What do your children see in you as a father? Are you ashamed to seek Jesus? Jairus ran to Jesus because he had a problem: his daughter lay dying. Jairus went, fell at the feet of Jesus, asking that Jesus come to his home where the child lay.
Fathers, seek Jesus today. Jairus was not ashamed to invite Jesus into his house; how about you?
Following the morning service, our congregation held a prayer walk around the church grounds for VBS. As you pray this week, band with us as we pray for VBS.
To allow fathers to spend time with their families, we did not have an evening service.
“The Baptist Faith and Message” is a great Bible study being taught by Bro. John Dennis on Wednesday night. Come study with us as we ask, “Why am I a Baptist?”
Plans are still being made for the “Fifth Sunday Night Singing.” We will join with Mulberry Baptist Church. Mark your calendars.
Pray that God will help us to love one another and to be loved. Come and worship with us on Sunday.
