Board of Education approves employee resignations (updated)

In other business Tuesday, the board:
•Awarded bids on ceramic tile installation to Carpet Store and More at rate of $3.50 per square foot; electrician services to K & W Electrical for $65 per hour for one electrician; and printing of the student/parent information guide to Camellia Printing for $5,820.
•Approved the following nine transfers/assignment changes for 2013–2014 school year: Transfer Robin Cagle from principal at Verbena High to assistant principal at Clanton Elementary; transfer Heather Smith from teacher assistant at Maplesville High to pre-school special education teacher assistant at Clanton Elementary; transfer Loir Farris from librarian at Clanton Elementary/Clanton Middle to family and consumer science teacher at Verbena High; transfer Christy Hay from librarian assistant at Clanton Intermediate to special education teacher assistant at Clanton Intermediate; transfer Heather Alford from pre-school special education teacher at Clanton Elementary to regular education teacher at Clanton Elementary; transfer Marci Bates from pre-school special education teacher at Maplesville High to collaborative education teacher at Maplesville High; Pam Jacks is assigned to provide speech/language services to students at Maplesville School, Maplesville Head Start and any outpatient preschoolers in the Maplesville area; Jane Leach is assigned to provide speech/language services to students at Clanton Intermediate, Clanton Middle, Chilton County High and Verbena; and Kerri Tillery is assigned to provide speech/language services to students at Isabella High and any outpatient preschoolers in the Isabella area.
•Approved to request bids on fuel and welding supplies.
•Approved to pay Lucinda Champion as counselor at Verbena for 10 days until the position is filled.
•Approved for Jemison High to be a pilot school for moving the flex block to the last period of the day, from 2:10–3:10 p.m.
•Approved to allow the Chilton County Extension Office to teach the 4-H nutrition program “Body Quest” in schools during the 2013–2014 school year.
•Approved paying Chris Baker an $800 supplement from the baseball club at Chilton County High School for the 2012–2013 school year.
•Approved the revised job description for Professional Development/Curriculum Supervisor.
•Approved paying annual dues of $360 for the Alabama Council of School Board Attorneys.
•Approved for all Chilton County Board of Education offices and schools to be closed for the Fourth of July holiday.
•Granted the Isabella Youth League permission to use the Isabella High auditorium for the 2013 Miss Liberty Pageant on July 13.
•Approved the termination of a board employee during a June 12 hearing due to excessive absences.
