Ed Conyers has had the fortune of doing what most Alabama fans could only dream about.
As a practice official for the UA football program, Conyers has shared the field with legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant and also with current coach Nick Saban.
Conyers spoke to the Chilton County Crimson Tide club Thursday at Clanton First United Methodist Church.
Conyers, who said his step-father was from Clanton, offered a unique perspective on the current state of the football program and university in general.
“I’ve been associated with Alabama a long time,” Conyers said. “We’ve never been in better shape academically, athletically, alumni-wise…We’re having a real good time right now, as y’all know.”
Also at the event, Denham Childress was recognized by club President Devonna Snuggs as being this year’s recipient of the Judy Melton Mims Memorial Scholarship the club gives out each year.
