Louise W. “Peggy” Spencer, 74, of Maplesville passed away on April 10.
She was born on Friday, Feb. 3, 1939, in New York, the daughter of the late Thomas Welch and the late Edith Agoney Welch.
Although she was a homemaker for many years, she worked as a nurse, was a crafter and was well known for her cooking. She lived for her grandchildren and loved nothing better than helping others.
She is survived by her husband, William Spencer of Maplesville; sons, Bill (Sharon) Spencer of Crestview, Fla. and Dale Spencer of Brent; grandson, Cole Spencer of Maplesville; granddaughters, Laci Spencer of Maplesville, Daisy Spencer of Crestview, Fla. and Sarah Robinson of Crestview, Fla.; sisters, Carolyn Rushford of Belleview, Fla., Geri Langston of Grove, Okla. and Helen (Vernon) Rock.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert (Fred) Spencer; parents, Thomas and Edith Welch; brother, Frank Welch and sister, Josie Bushey.
Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. on April 13 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be held on April 13 at 3 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Gatlin officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville.
Pallbearers will be, Doug McAteer, Chad Skelton, Cary Skelton, Tom Atcheson, Jimmy Mitchell and Randy Roper.
Honorary pallbearers are Teresa Atcheson, employees of McAbee Construction, staff at the Montgomery Cancer Center, Lance and Leigh Honeycutt, Sandra Chambers, Debi Spencer, Brenda McAteer, Elsie Autrey, Sheline Connell, Christine Epperson, Abby G’s, Connie McAfee, Greg R. Mims and Dot Reikert.
