Thorsby (1–5) suffered another crushing defeat Friday at the hands of Trinity Presbyterian (4–2), who beat the Rebels 57–6 in a region matchup.

Thorsby senior Bradley Evans scored the Rebels’ first and only touchdown in the first quarter.

Trinity answered with a touchdown and extra point and continued to defy Rebel defenders, producing a steady string of touchdowns and good kicks.

The Wildcats were up 50–6 at halftime.

Trinity put only 7 more points on the board in the second half and held Thorsby to 6 the rest of the game.

For the Rebels, senior Nathan Oldroyd had eight completions of 15 attempts for a total of 120 yards and six rushes for 10 yards.

Evans had two receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown.

Senior Chase Gottier had five catches for 31 yards and was lead rusher with five attempts for 28 yards.

Senior Nolan Hayes had six attempts for 12 yards.

Senior William Garrigus was lead tackler with 14 tackles.

Senior Dalton Turner had nine tackles.

Despite these and other key playmakers, Thorsby is still missing four starters because of injury and lacks the depth needed to hold its own in Class 3A.

“We’re young in a lot of spots, and it shows,” Thorsby head coach Billy Jackson said. “We just need something to go right for us.”

Jackson said he will continue encouraging his players to focus on their team and to reach their potential instead of worrying about how they stack up to rival teams.

“They’re trying,” Jackson said of his disappointed players. “They’re good boys. They work hard in practice.”

Thorsby will host Midfield in a region game Oct. 12.
